How to get to the festival?

Car

By A4 Motorway (Direction Paris to Metz-Nancy): exit 13 Serris-Provins, then follow the road D231

By A5 Motorway (Direction Paris to Troyes): exit 16 Châtillon- la-Borde (the road D408), and then the road D619.

 

Parking lots and shuttles

Many free parking lots are available.
Free shuttles (Savac) will run between the various parking lots and the Festival site, one shuttle around every  20 minutes.

 

Buses and RER

From Paris, Line A (RER) to Chessy-Marne la Vallée, with a connection to the Seine-et-Marne Express bus line n°50.
One departure every hour from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, in both directions on Saturday and Sunday.

From Paris, Line D (RER) to Melun, then connection by bus to Seine-et-Marne Express line n°47.
Line 47 to Melun, last departure at 8.55pm on Saturday and 6:50pm on Sunday. Departure from the SNCF station. Schedules subject to change.

Train

From Paris Gare de l’Est, line P towards Provins.

Provins is compatible with SNCF/RATP 5 zone cards: Navigo, Mobilis, Paris Visite…

In addition to the free shuttles, small paying tourist trains will run continuously from the SNCF station to the avenue Anatole France (Garage Ford) between 10am and 7pm. The access to the festival will be done by the entrance of the Executioner or by the entrance of Enfer (see map of the animations).
Fare: 2€ per trip / Free for children under 5 years old.

 

 

Camper van

The camper parking near Provins Tourisme (Tourist Office) is exceptionally closed for the festival. A free parking for campers will be at your disposition from the previous Thursday until the end of the festival. There will be roadsigns to guide you from the Tourist Office for the access.

 

Carsharing

Check the Facebook group: Covoiturage Vroum à Provins ! and find or propose the route you would take to get to Provins.

Disabled people (PMR)

Find parking lots for people with disabilities and reduced mobility at Porte de Jouy and Porte Saint-Jean. To prepare your arrival, you can contact the organizers at the following number +33 (0)1 64 00 39 39.

The festival cashiers accept cash and credit cards only. No checks will be accepted.

Restaurants

More than 70 food facilities

You will find regular places (like restaurants) and occasional places to eat (like inns or medieval shops) in the festival. There are no special picnic areas but you can easily find places to sit down and have a picnic.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Two days of celebration of Provins’ medieval past, at the time of the famous Champagne Fairs (12th century). Historical reenactments, camps, musicians, jesters, acrobats, games and a lot of other activities will take place in the medieval town to make you live an unforgettable week end.

Saturday 1st June 2024 : from 10 am to midnight.
Sunday 2nd June 2024 : from 10 am to 6 pm.

Yes ! You can visit the monuments or attend the shows “La Légende des Chevaliers” and “Les Aigles des Remparts” during the Médiévales de Provins. There is a charge for these activities, which are not included in the ticket for the Médiévales de Provins. There is no pass including admission to the festival and the monuments/shows.

These shows take place throughout the season from March to November, and the monuments are open all year round. For booking details and opening times, visit the Provins Tourisme website https://provins.net/

No! Due to the the vigipirate plan, THE CARRYING OF ANY WEAPON OR REPLICA WEAPON IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, regardless of the materials it is made of. 

Les Médiévales de Provins attract the crowd and the flow become heavy around 11:30 a.m. We recommend you to avoid the rush hours and to choose the baby carrier instead of the pushchair in order to enjoy fully the festival!

Pets are not permitted within the perimeter of the medieval.
This family event gathers many people. The program includes shows with animals. For everybody’s safety and well-being, dogs are therefore not admitted to the festival.

Onsite, the day of your arrival, you should wear a complete medieval costume: headpiece, pants, top and shoes! Costume of fantastic inspiration is accepted. You can buy or rent one in specialized shops but also buy one in Provins.

Don’t worry, if it’s rainy during the festival, everything is maintained!

After your first entry, you can go inside and outside the festival as you want.
The security procedure is still obligatory for any access.

Our tips for a good festival

CASHPOINT

Few merchants and craftsmen have an electronical payment terminal to pay by credit card. Take advantage of numerous cash machines in the city centre (refer to animations’ map) but only one cashpoint can be found inside the festival’s enclosure. Anticipate and prepare your visit!

COME IN MEDIEVAL COSTUME

To benefit from the reduced price, your medieval costume should be complete: headpiece, pants, top and shoes! Costume of fantastic inspiration is accepted. You can buy or rent one in specialized shops but also buy one in Provins.

IN CASE OF HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS

Put your headpiece on (the medieval cap) ! And keep hydrated! 4 first-aid posts are set up on the festival site.

REGULATIONS

Pets are not permitted within the perimeters of the medieval.
